Arsenal ‘to launch surprise bid for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after Euro 2020’ – with club’s first offer for £40m-rated England man ‘set to be below his price-tag’ despite Bernd Leno’s future being unclear
Arsenal will launch their surprise attempt to sign Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after Euro 2020, reports have claimed, although their offer is likely to be below his price-tag.
Ramsdale has emerged as a target for the club this summer and he is currently away with England, having been called up as the third-choice option after Dean Henderson picked up an injury.
And now, according to the Star, the Blades have been told to expect an approach from the Emirates at the end of the tournament.

The 23-year-old Ramsdale, formerly of Bournemouth, was earmarked as a potential replacement for Bernd Leno, who currently faces an uncertain future.
It is thought that any attempts to sign the Three Lions stopper would have proven tricky while he is with Gareth Southgate’s squad, but negotiations seem likely to be ramped up over the coming weeks.
Ramsdale is valued at around £40million, the same outlet adds, and Arsenal’s first tabled package will almost certainly be below that.

It will, however, underline that the club are deadly serious about brokering a deal.
Arsenal’s approach comes shortly after Ramsdale suffered a second successive Premier League relegation, this time at Bramall Lane.
The former Chesterfield and AFC Wimbledon man was unable to prevent United from slipping into the Championship despite impressing, and he suffered the same fate during his three-year stay at Bournemouth.
However, he is now one of England’s three goalkeepers for this summer’s tournament, and is behind Jordan Pickford and Sam Johnstone in the pecking order.

Sportsmail reported recently how Arsenal are keen on bringing in Ramsdale, as well as another two signings, namely an attacking midfielder and a striker.
Nuno Tavares will undergo his medical ahead of joining from Benfica in a £6.8million deal, and is to become Mikel Arteta’s first addition.
The club are also close to finalising a deal for Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, having raised their bid to around £18m including add-ons.
Discussions are continuing with Brighton over £55m-rated centre back Ben White.
