Mangy Pacquiao vs. Yordenis Ugas: Fight card and odds

The famous Pacquiao comes back to the ring against a late replacement opponent for a world weight title

Again, this is fighting week in Las Vegas and although it is not the bout that many had intended to watch, it still requires your attention. Former eight-division champion, Manny Pacquiao, will walk the ring for the first time in two years when he sees WBA title holder Yordenis Ugas in the PBC’s headline Fox PPV event. Pacquiao was originally slated to compete with Unified Champion Errol Spence Jr., but Spence had to withdraw a torn retina in a training camp. Note that Ugas’ previous opponent to the card was also injured and forced to withdraw, virtually destining for this new main event.

This was one of the most idle periods in Pacquiao’s career in July 2019, when he overruled Keith Thurman for the WBA belt. Before that Pacquiao flipped the clock again with wins on Adrien Broner and Lucas Matthysse who came to Jeff Horn in his native Australia after a contentious loss of decision. The legend now looks to earn the championship he never lost.

Ugas, meanwhile, isn’t someone you can look at. At 35 the Cuban has only one defeat in 12 ring excursions since 2015 and the lone loss comes from Shawn Porter’s contested decision on the vacant WBC belt. At 147 pounds, he won some of the world’s finest, including Jamal James, Thomas Dulorme, Ray Robinson, Omar Figueroa and Abel Ramos triumphs.

The undercard fills up with a good blend of old and future talent. In lightweight, Robert Guerrero takes Victor Ortiz, Mark Magsayo fights ex-Champion Julio Ceja with a featherweight eliminator and Carlos Castro faces Oscar Ecandon with a featherweight.
